I’m Edward, an IT systems engineer and EV owner in Malta. I switched to electric in 2021, and that made me much more interested in what a charge actually costs rather than just the headline figures.

I built and maintain ChargeCostCalculator.com independently, including the calculator formulas, source updates and corrections.

Why the numbers interest me

The arithmetic is simple, but the assumptions matter. Battery size, electricity price, charging losses and real-world efficiency can all move the result, so I prefer showing those inputs openly.

A real-world reference point

Charging a 39 kWh battery at home in Malta costs me around €4 and gives me approximately 374 km of real-world driving. It is a personal example, not a universal EV cost.

How I maintain the site

I keep the formulas documented, list the main sources and review reported errors when tariffs, specifications or links change.
